Continuing to build on his speed, Miglio Yamaha Official Enduro 1 Team rider Mikael Persson enjoyed the most successful GP of his rookie season in the senior ranks of the Enduro World Championship, placing sixth and eight over two days of racing in Heinola, Finland.
Featuring three special tests in technical and demanding terrain and a total of three laps each day the GP of Finland proved to be anything but easy for all riders.
Showing more of the form that took him to the 2015 Enduro Youth World Championship title during the first day of competition in Finland, Persson posted top five times in four out of nine special tests. He also managed to record an impressive third fastest time in the long enduro test.
With mistakes forcing him to settle for eighth place on day two, the Swede collected 18 points from the GP of Finland and currently sits 10th in the Enduro 1 championship standings.
Round four of the series saw Miglio Yamaha Official Enduro 1 Team strengthened by the presence of Sweden’s Robert Kvarnstrom, who was standing in for injured team rider Jamie McCanney.
Putting his Enduro World Championship experience to good use Kvarnstrom kicked off the GP on a positive note finishing eighth on day one. Battling to get closer to the top on day two he crashed in the opening enduro test and was unable to continue.
The 2016 FIM Enduro World Championship will now move to Enkoping in Sweden for the fifth round of the series on June 18/19.
